The itinerary starts from
the rooms of the Notaio
Ducale and those of the
Segretario alla Segreta del
Consiglio dei Dieci.
Continue to the Office of
the High Chancellor. A
stairway leads to the
beautiful room of the
Cancelleria Segreta. Proceed
through the room of the
Reggente alla Cancelleria to
the torture room. Next stop
the Piombi zone where the
cells were made up of wooden
partitions strengthened by
large Iron sheets. The
Piombi, as described by
Giacomo Casanova, one of the
most famous prisoners of the
palace, offered better
conditions than the Pozzi,
the terrible cells located
on the ground floor. Proceed
to the Sala degli
Inquisitori (with the
ceiling decorated by
Tintoretto) and from there
to the Sala dei Tre Capi.
Through a secret wooden
passage reach the Sala dei
Tre inquisitori.At the end
of the visit you can remain
inside the Doge's Palace to
spend more time
independently in the main
salons. Alternatively, the
guide will accompany clients
to the area known as San
Zaccaria, with its beautiful
church, passing through the
Campo Santa Maria;
historically, one of the
oldest religious and civil
centres of "La Serenissima".
It was formerly the site of
many theatrical
performances, feasts and
even bullfights.
