Castiglion Fiorentino sits on the side of a hill overlooking the Chiana valley. Built into the walls of the ancient, medieval city is the apartment La Pergola. The more modern parts of town are built all around the outside of the walls, but within the fortress, peace reigns. The apartment is furnished with some excellent antique pieces, is very restful and some windows have superb views across the valley to the mountains. The interior has been renovated beautifully and retained its cotta vaulted ceilings, which give character. There is a terrace garden for guests’ use and a covered portico in a courtyard with a barbecue. The local swimming pool is 300 meters away.

Location
This situation is midway between Arezzo and Cortona, both of which are easily reached. South of Cortona too, is Lake Trasimeno which provides good swimming and water sports.
