A very eminent family are the owner of this grand villa. Their history has been traced back to 1218 and today they are amongst the most important families of Cortona and the surrounding Val di Chiani. Their villa has been extravagantly modified over the centuries and its present, stylish, architectural features strongly reflect its ancient wealth. Resident family members have included politicians, soldiers, mariners of the Noble Order of Malta, writers and poets. Saturated in stories of the past, this must be a fascinating stay for anyone with a feel for history. Valuable Tuscan relics, unearthed from the vast parkland in which the villa stands, have been carefully preserve by the owners.

There are two and a half kms of established footpaths in the park, surrounded by centuries old trees. Cortona, with its mysterious alleys and Renaissance houses, has a quality of isolation. Perched on the side of Mount Sant’Egidio, it is surounded by many points of interest. To the north is the walled town of Arezzo, west is Siena and south is Lake Trasimeno. Perugia and Umbria to the east offer interesting centres. Memorable impressions of an unforgettable holiday will linger forever. In a side wing of Villa Metelliano is Casa Metelliano. With its own private garden and pool, it is much loved by visitors.

Location
It has been architecturally designed to have much light and space. The pool is set in lawns encircled by trees and hedging which provide privacy. Cultivated woods and many paths in the surrounding park enable guests to enjoy peaceful walks. Basic shopping is available within walking distance of the main gates, whilst 3 kms away Cortona caters to every need and has a choice of restaurants to suit every pocket.
