General
Il Cerreto is a 16th century
farmstead, which was bought
by its present owner in a
pitiful condition of ruins.
It’s hard to imagine that a
developer might have the
imagination to restructure
what would have been
extremely basic
accommodation to families
and pigs alike, into a
beautiful holiday
destination in the heart of
the Chianti Classico. The
restoration has taken years
and now presents the best of
current building technology
in terms of comfort and
quality and the setting is
idyllic, surrounded by
unspoiled panoramas.
Location
Sympathetic to local
surroundings with a wealth
of wooden beams and warm
stone walls, the houses
share a twelve-meter
swimming pool, which
overlooks the owner’s
woodland, vineyards and
olive groves. Each house has
a furnished terrace for
dining out and individual
barbecues. In a communal
room clients may enjoy a
spot of wine tasting since
the estate produces wine and
olive oil. Laundry room with
washing machine. The centre
of Castellina in Chianti is
barely a kilometer distant
and is glimpsed in the vista
atop its hill. Here are
shops, banks, restaurants,
an outlet for hiring
mountain bikes and a bus
service to Siena. Florence
and Siena are equi-distant
and can each be reached in
under an hour. All the towns
and villages of this
splendid region are within
short drives.
Located away from, and
higher, than the main
buildings, above the pool
area, is a brand newly
converted barn comprising
two independent,
interconnecting,
apartments. Positioned at
hilltop height on a slope
they each have two levels.
