General
Just north of Florence, the
broad Mugello valley is the
homeland of the Medici
family. Its enchanting towns
and villages are surrounded
by a sea of vines and olives
whose slopes intermittently
give way to deep forests of
pines, chestnuts and oaks,
cool and refreshing. And
amongst these strikingly
beautiful bluish-green hills
lies Villa di Romignano, a
large traditionally
furnished country house with
360 degree views. Giotto,
the father of Renaissance
painting, was born in
Vespignano, a small hamlet
near Borgo San Lorenzo where
12th century Romanesque
churches mingle with the
modern day essentials of
shops, banks and chemists.
Guests can appreciate the
historical significance of
their surroundings, maybe
while dining alfresco, on
the large panoramic lawn at
the front of the villa.
Location
Florence is 28 kilometres
and the A1 autostrada at
Barberino di Mugello is 20
kilometres. Less far is a
new factory outlet selling
cut-price ’designer’ goods
by Armani, Dolce and Gabbana
and Fendi to name but a few.
Numerous naturally shaded
gardens are reached by
paths, one of which will
lead to a 10 x 5m swimming
pool below the villa. On
another terrace is an
outside jacuzzi. The owner
lives in a rear extension of
the villa. An 800 metre long
drive leads to a spacious
parking area from where 17
steps lead us up to the
front door.
Layout
Off the main hallway are two
sitting rooms, one with open
fireplace, and an informal
dining room. A kitchen
boasts a fireplace/cooking
range, gas hob, oven,
fridge/freezer, sink unit
and doors lead out to a
small terrace with barbeque
and washing machine. Two
steps up and along a
corridor lead to another
seating area with opening
into a formal dining room. A
large shower room, WC etc
and separate WC complete the
ground floor. Up 17 steps to
first floor. One large
double bedded room
overlooking the front
garden. One double bedded
room. One twin bedded room
with corner windows. One
double. A huge master double
bedroom with fireplace and
double windows. One
bathroom, WC etc. One shower
room, WC etc.
