La Speranzella is the ground floor half of this classic roadside building, with Il Capanno (opposite page) forming the first floor accommodation. They can be rented separately, or together, for two parties of clients.

The building’s exterior is undistinguished but the architect-owners have given full vent to their creative expertise with the interior, which beautifully combines stylish fixtures and fittings with the building’s solid rustic fabric.

The independent ground floor entrance reveals a homely, yet stylish, inside – such touches as the shower tray, fashioned from an old barrel, unusual, tasteful, but eminently functional.

Location
The small furnished garden has abundant natural shade provided by surrounding woodland – cooling breezes, rustling leaves and dappled sunlight are the order of the day here.

At the medieval town of Anghiari, ten kilometres away, the Renaissance Palazzo Taglieschi in Via Mameli, houses the Museum of Popular Arts and Traditions of the Upper Tiber Valley – a fascinating place in which to spend a morning or afternoon.
