District
The
Chianti
Classico
district
reaches
from
just
south
of
Florence
to
just
north
of
Siena.
During
the
tour
you
will
visit
a
number
of
stunning
vineyards
and
a
selection
of
fascinating
wineries.
As
you
tour
the
vineyards
you
will
learn
how
to
distinguish
the
main
varieties
of
grapes
and
about
the
concept
of "terroir".
At
the
wineries
you
will
see
wine
production
techniques
first
hand
and
sample
a
number
of
great
Chianti
wines.
Time
permitting,
there
will
also
be
an
opportunity
to
sample
local
olive
oils

District
Montalcino is
a little hilltop town South of Siena at the
center
of
the
district
that
is
home
to
the
Brunello
grape (Sangiovese - Grosso). On this day
tour we will discover the origins and the
evolution of the Brunello wine, visiting a
couple of wonderful wineries. During the
tour
you
will
visit
Montalcino,
tour
vineyards
and
wineries
that
produce
many
of
the
world
famous
Brunello
wines
(Rosso
di

and
one

glorious
Super

that
come

spend

time
at

11th
century
Abbey

San Gimignano District
San Gimignano is known as the Town of the Towers, because it still boasts 14 of the over 70 medieval towers that used to dominate this wonderful little hill top town. Wine lovers know San Gimagnano as the center of the district where the Vernaccia di San Gimagnano is produced. This wine is the very first wine to have received the coveted DOC status in 1966. Now the area is becoming well known for its powerful red wines.
