Day 1 - Arrival in Rome. Pick up at airport and get settled into your fabulous accommodations in the historic center of Todi. Welcome dinner. Early to bed; Early to rise!
Day 2 - Our first big day of your journey will be a whirlwind tour of the small hamlets and borgos near Todi...i.e. Melezzole, Toscolana, St. Restituta. After lunch we'll pay a visit to Monte Castello di Vibio and the world's smallest theater.
Day 3 - We're off to the spectacular city of Orvieto. We'll spend the day (lunch included) show you around and fill you in on some of the history with a special focus on the influence of the Etruscans. Includes tour underground and a visit to fascinating, 2500 year old Etruscan tombs. Lunch included.
Day 4 - Today we go Assisi, birth place of St. Francis, for a morning tour. You'll have lunch and the afternoon free, but later we'll head out to the beautiful village of Collepino on Mount Subasio for dinner. We're not going back to Todi though, your night's lodgings will be in Perugia, Umbria's incredible capital city.
Day 5 - You will awaken in Perugia where you are in for an amazing culinary experience with our gourmet chef. Visit the local market, learning about and choosing the freshest ingredients. Create you very own Italian specialties, homemade pasta and gnocchi and delectable sauces. "Proof is in the pudding" and you will be your own judge savoring the meal freshly prepared by your very own hands. Exceptional wine, carefully flavor matched (one bottle per couple) is included for the perfect feast.
Day 6 - Start the day with a private guided tour of the fascinating wine museum in Torgiano. Stop for lunch in the charming hamlet of Bevagna. Then enjoy a privileged insiders look at the “cantina” and production areas of a renowned local vintner. Explore the art of cultivating distinctive wines and make the day complete by sampling the wares! Lunch is included.
Day 7 - We'll tour the charming medieval town of Spello, and lunch at an incredible little enoteca - wine store - where we will interview a respected local sommelier. Among other things, we'll learn a lot about wine etiquette. We'll conclude the day with a wine-tasting, partaking of some fabulous DOCG premier wines from Umbria and other parts of Italy.
Day 8 - Now it's time to visit Tuscany. During the day we will go to Siena, walk its winding medieval streets, stroll the Piazza del Campo, and maybe spend a little time at the Cathedral. We'll spend the night at another luxurious country home near the city. Lunch and Dinner are included.
Day 9 - It's the day before you leave for home, so it's a special day that will include a visit to Montepuliciano and Pienza. Pienza is a little gem of a town that was built by Pope Pius as a model city, now often referred to as the "Utopian" city. Lunch is included.
Day 10 - This is your last day, so you and our other guests will enjoy a leisurely breakfast, reflect on the wonderful experiences of the last few days, and (we sincerely hope) make plans to come back again.
Price includes 3 or 4 star accommodations/ double occupancy, transportation, breakfast and either lunch or dinner, tours, entry fees, English speaking guides.
