Santa Caterina sits high on a hill with breathtaking views in every direction. Gently rolling hills and farmlands on one side and rugged mountain with a 12th century castle perched on top, on another. Seven miles from the village of Umbertide, it is centrally located among the medieval towns of Perugia, Gubbio and Assisi. Orvieto, the center of the widely acclaimed wine of the same name, and Deruta, renowned for its pottery, are only a short drive away.

Villa Santa Caterina was built in the early 18th century and restored by our family in 1996 with every effort made to retain its original character, using old, authentic materials wherever possible. The main house is about 3,300 square feet, and the two cottages are aproximately 500 square feet each, with wood beam ceilings and terracotta floors. Santa Caterina is decorated in a typical Umbrian/Tuscan style with many antique furnishings and oriental rugs.

Ground Floor

On the ground floor is a large entrance hall, living room with wood-burning fireplace, dining room and a well appointed eat-in kitchen with doors to a covered terrace for alfresco dinning.

Across the hall there is a bedroom with two single beds and an adjacent bathroom as well as a laundry room with a washer and dryer. The bedroom has a door leading to the garden.

There are two large patios accessible from the living room and dining room, on opposite sides of the house, giving you views of both, the valley, and the mountains.

Upper Floor

On the upper floor, there are two large bedrooms with period furnishings, queen beds and ensuite bathrooms. In between the two bedrooms is a cozy sitting/ TV room with wood-burning fireplace and a patio.

Castello Di Shi

Castello Di Shi was our latest project, completed in the summer of 2007. It is a small, self contained cottage with a full kitchen, living room, dining room and bathroom downstairs and a queen size bedroom with an antique armoire and a make-up table in the loft.

It has its own private patio overlooking the pool and its location at the highest point of the property offers magnificent views.
