The charming 3 star Hotel Ala is in the heart of Venice, a short walk from St. Mark's Square, the Academy of Fine Arts, the Fenice theatre, Palazzo Grassi and Ca' Rezzonico. The hotel is decidedly among the most outstanding of 3 star hotels in Venice.
The Hotel was originally a private early 18th century house which can be seen in many paintings of Venice, including one by Canaletto. The building was transformed into a hotel preserving much of its orginal features, in the 1960s. The property has been managed by the Salmaso family for over 15 years.
From St. Mark's Square, walking towards "Accademia's Bridge" you will arrive in "Campo Santa Maria del Giglio", also known as "Zobenigo" in memory of a patrician family which once lived in a palazzo off the square. This little, very evocative piazzina, is close to the Canal Grande and to St. Maria's Church which gives its name to the district.
The hotel is also the home of Tarnowskas American Bar, where guests and friends can kick back and relax.
